This is our take on the "pumpkin spice latte!"
We wanted to do something to celebrate fall; that time of year when hot coffee is no longer taboo. But, we didn't want to create something with all the artificial syrups and junk...so, we crafted a naturally spiced blend: roasted, ground, and mixed to perfection (snag a bag here). Or so we thought...
It wasn't enough to just add the tasty spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and cardamom. Our friends we met at the Linden Hills Farmers Market gave it a try and said it lacked a certain panache (aka sweetness). So, they added a little milk and pure maple syrup. And we gotta say, it is super tasty! Honestly, better than a "pumpkin spice latte!" Thanks to Joanna and Ben, we did our own take on their recipe.
This Fall Harvest Blend really only works in a French Press...we are either sorry for the inconvenience or happy to be the excuse for you to buy your first French Press!
Add 7 tablespoons to a French Press. (If you want a tutorial on how to use a French Press, check out our other video)
Wet the coffee grounds completely and let sit for 30 seconds.
Fill the French Press vessel with water up to half an inch below the lip.
Cover the French Press but don't press it yet. Let sit for 30 seconds.
Press down on the plunger, but not too hard.
Warm some milk (preferably whole milk) over the stove.
Add a dollop of pure maple syrup to your mug. We are using some from our friends at Jirik Family Farms (you can find them at Linden Hills Farmers Market).
Add the warm milk to the maple syrup. Stir lightly.
Add your coffee and stir all the goodness together. (We know, it's a different mug than the other pictures...but this was a better shot!)
Enjoy while looking pensively out the window!
